Smokey Eye Makeup with a pop of color - Tutorial and Giveaway Winner announced!

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday and weekend! This week seems to have flown by and I am not sure I got a lot done this week! I have a final presentation for a business class I'm taking, so I decided to dress up a little for my presentation in a few hours with a cute navy blue blazer and some gold accents! And to pair with some nice makeup, I created a Brown smokey eye look with a pop of some blue/green color!
And at the bottom of the post I announce the winner of the Anjolee Necklace Giveaway!

Here is a tutorial for this look created using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Maya Mia palette I have had for some time now! I also created a double winged look, which I think adds a nice chic touch! I lined the lower lid with my liquid liner so I had to be careful, and then used eye pencil to line the inner lower lid!

I really enjoy this palette for the really pretty exotic color palette, and the nice combination of looks you can create! All of the shades are pretty matte though, even the ones with some shimmer in them, so they are great for creating a subtle smokey look! Feel free to create the same look with similar shades from a different palette!

Here's the tutorial!

1. First, prime your lids with some type of eye shadow primer, I chose to use Urban Decay Primer potion.
2. Sweep (1) Warm Taupe across the inner corner of the lid, to start the subtle smokey look!
3. Dab (2) Glisten slightly in the inner/middle lid and a little on the other side, leaving some space in the middle for (3) Aqua, to get some pigment. I tried to pack on Aqua in order to get some more pigment - these colors are a little matte so theyre a little hard to pack on!
4. Add (4) Caramel to the crease line, to try to blend and increase the smokey effect. Use your fat brush to blend into the crease and with the other colors.
5. I dabbed my brush in (5) Sienna and slightly in (5) Deep Brown to get deep color to put on the outside corner, and shape it into a V or a C, moving in slightly toward the crease and toward the lashline. Try to blend together to create the subtle smokey look!
6. Line the upper lid with a liquid liner, bringing it to a cat eye if you like.
7. I also lined the lower lash line with liquid liner, being careful to create a thin line, and winged it out as well.
8. I then used a black eyeliner pencil to line the inner lower rim of my eye to finish the look!
9.  Coat your lashes with mascara and enjoy your look! I used Urban Decay Perversion Mascara with Subversion Lash Primer!

And here is the numbered pictorial!

And here is a lower quality cell-phone selfie I took in lab in preparation of my presentation!

And last but not least! The winner of the Anjolee necklace giveaway is.... Mirian Gonzales!! I will be emailing you shortly!
Thanks so much for everyone for entering! I had a lot of entries and it was hard to decide who to choose so I selected a random winner after validating all of the entries!
I hope to bring more giveaways to you all soon!

Have an amazing weekend everyone!

#LApassport #PassportProgram Launch Party - Now Boarding!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend! I had a relaxing weekend trip and took Monday off to BBQ with friends!
To kick off my weekend, this past Thursday night, I had the chance to attend the Launch Party for the Passport Program  launch in LA, for their "LA Passport," at the quaint new bar "Now Boarding" in West Hollywood! It was a rather fun experience, and the airline theme was SO CUTE, kudos to the organizers!
The Passport Program has launched in numerous cities across the United States, starting in Colorado and spreading to California and across to the east coast! For $20, you can get your hands on a Passport Booklet that contains several drink specials at various bars around town starting yesterday - Memorial Day, until Labor Day in September. You just show the passport to your waiter/waitress and they stamp your passport!

In LA, you can use it at 84 venues across Hollywood, Downtown, Santa Monica, and more! I was really excited because I have been wanting to explore Los Angeles more, since there are so many cute places and I haven't even been to 5% of them! And this is perfect for summer, since now that my work stress is starting to lessen, I am trying to make some more time for myself and spending time with friends, leaving work early to actually make some happy hours and enjoy the daylight hours. I want to make it a weekly thing where I try to go to one of the bars once a week - let's see if I can hold to this! There are certain drink specials at each place, and some places have even hand crafted a special cocktail or drink for this Passport!

Upon entering the bar, we were handed a "Ticket" that could be used at the bar for a drink, and a goodie bag with some freebies from various sponsors of the event!
I had a really yummy drink, which was the special of the summer for the bar, the Wheel's up! It was so yummy!
They also had a photobooth, that my friends and I had a blast taking photos. Who can resist a photobooth!! I always have a blast at photobooths, and they are great ways to remember a fun event!

Towards the end of the event I got to hang out with the organizers of the event and one of the founders of the Passport Program - all really cool and down to earth people! It was a really great night and I enjoyed talking to everyone!

If you want to get your hands on a Passport for your city, take a look at their website to see if there's a passport available for your town, and you can purchase one for $20! www.thepassportprogram.com

Have you ever been a part of a similar program? Have you explored all of the bars around your town? Let me know in the comments below!

PS. Winner of the Anjolee Necklace Giveaway will be announced next post after I verify all of the entries! Thanks so much for everyone who entered! I will bring you more giveaways hopefully soon!

Beach Trip Essentials - Summer Lovin'

Happy Friday loves!
I'm SO happy its Friday, and it's a long weekend here in the US, Memorial Day weekend!
I am going on a little mini trip with the boyfriend, to get away from work and stresses and just relax! Where am I going? Can you guess from the Style board posted below???
Also, I have some great news, my paper is finally accepted in the Journal of Biological Chemistry!! It will be online sometime soon, but it is just in time for me to present my research at an international research conference in July in BARCELONA!!!!! It has always been a dream of mine ever since I was in high school to go to Barcelona, and now it is happening, on a business trip nonetheless, but I will be able to explore the city (and bring you MORE conference/work fashion when the time comes!). I also will be jet setting off to the greek islands right after the conference to visit my family for a week and a half, so I AM SO EXCITED!!! I have needed a vacation since I went to Hawaii last September, so I am way over due, even with this little mini getaway this weekend with the boy!
Well, since my trip is 2 months away, I am day dreaming about afternoons on the beach, with no cares in the world. I LOVE research and it's my passion, but sometimes you need to step away from the bench and unplug for a week or two (or three!). Here is going to be my uniform this weekend and in July when I am traveling and on the beach: I have picked out some bikinis and cover ups and accessories! Barcelona also has some beautiful beaches so I am sure I can double use outfits for both my island excursion and Barcelona!

1. Bikinis - I love love love detail on bikini  tops, and while it is nice to have a matching set, for the last year or two I have been splurging on cute bikini tops that match with one black bottom that I wear and match with multiple suits! It's super easy (and cheaper on the bank account!), and it's really cool to be able to pack less and still be rather stylish! I love all of these really cute, unique detailed tops! Which do you like??

2. Crop tops and flowy tops - Since I am planning on living in my bikini, what about a nice cute top to cover up? I love the ombre, as I have posted about before, and fringe tops (sorry, I am like a broken record), and stripes!! A floppy hat will be perfect too for sitting in the sun to protect my face!

3. Shorts - Since I live in the lab all year, I barely get to wear shorts anymore. But I want to invest in a cute pair of denim shorts (I don't think I have worn denim shorts in years, sadly!). I also love these lace trimmed shorts too, I have had my eye on them and the trend the last year or so!

4. Sunglasses -  I love getting a new pair of sunnies, and this is the perfect occasion. I have been rewearing my favorite sunglasses for years now and they are kind of dead/broken from overuse. So, I am planning on buying a new pair, doesn't have to be designer or expensive, but these are the styles I think that suit me best!

5. Tote bag - I am obsessed with tote bags. I carry them to work as my work bag,  and I love carrying them to the beach with all of my stuff! Granted, the ones I selected here are kind of expensive so not sure if I would bring these specific ones to the beach, but they are super cute and I would look for similar patterned bags to buy!

Ah, let the day dreaming begin. I bought my tickets yesterday, so I am still on cloud nine just thinking about my little summer get away!

What do you think? Anything that I missed?
Are you getting some time off to go anywhere this summer? Know of any places I SHOULD check out in Barcelona!?!

Let me know in the comments below!

BTW- My Anjolee Neckalce Giveaway ends Sunday night at 11:59 pm - go over and enter while you still can! I will announce the winner in my next post, Monday or Tuesday of next week!

Fringe and Metal

Hello loves,
I bring you another outfit post, for an outfit that I am obsessed with, featuring fringe and another statement necklace.
I had a rather rough week last week, I wasn't feeling so great and I had a recurring headache that evolved into a migraine, so that was fun. Not sure if it was due to stress, allergies, a combination of over working, being tired, stress, environment/pollen??? But I am feeling much better after relaxing this weekend and my paper was officially accepted to the journal! So I was super happy and I treated myself to a manicure, lunch, and drinks on Friday. Laughter really helped alleviate my headaches, and being surrounded by good people really helped!
I love this outfit because it is rather simple and proper to wear to lab, yet still edgy enough to have some style! I bought this fringe top and statement metal necklace from Express, and I fell in love with how it all looks together! Paired with my usual dark Zara jeans (which, I have to go shopping to get new pants, too much wear has caused some holes... anyone else have this problem?!), some low heeled booties from Sam&Libby at Target, along with some accent bangles (cute Tassel bracelets from Charlotte Russe), I loved this outfit!

Top: Express | Jeans: Zara | Statement Necklace: Express | Boots: Sam&Libby, Target | Bracelets: Charlotte Russe |

I picked up the pant cuffing technique from my friend Megan, who did it to wear with cute ankle booties, and I loved it. Seeing as I have short legs, my pants are always too long, and I end up with so much extra fabric towards my shoes. I was turning it inwards so it was hidden but bulky, but cuffing them outward was such a cute touch! These ankle booties were also super comfy to walk around in lab all day doing experiments! And being a Friday, SO easy to transition out to happy hour with friends and later dinner!

I have to ask, do you have some tips for pants shopping? I hate going shopping for jeans, mainly because I don't have a set brand of jeans I love (I used to LOVE American Eagle jeans but I kind of outgrew them, and they changed up the styles). Do you have a pair of jeans that you are in love with? Any brand suggestions? I need to go shopping this week for new pants because a lot of my pants that I have have developed holes in the inner thighs (curvy girl/short girl problems?!). I always have a hard time because of 1. the length, 2. the bum area, and 3. the hips to thigh ratio (fits in the thighs, too tight on the hips or the other way around!). Any suggestions are super welcome!

Well anyway, I have been meaning to post this outfit for a while now, I just love the combination of Fringe and Metal Statement necklace (if you have been following my blog lately you know how much I have been talking about fringe and statement necklaces!).

Do let me know your suggestions and comments about this outfit below!

PS. My Anjolee Necklace Giveaway is still going on, it ends in exactly a week from now, next Monday the 25th, so go over and enter!! Click Here for Giveaway!
