New Look!

I finally updated to a new look! New layout, new background, new header :)
I am thinking about purchasing a domain name soon too... :)
once I pick up readership, I will hopefully be purchasing phdfashionista.com ! I have always wanted to have my own domain name! Ever since my middle school days of graphic designing for myself!
AH!
So excited.
I don't have anything fashion related for this post, but I will this weekend!
Stay tuned!

PS. I'm super excited for my February Ipsy Glambag! From the sounds of it on their website, it should be great! I hope to get it soon!

Reviews for recent items!

25% OFF AT MOTELROCKS.COM IS STILL GOING THIS WEEK! USE MY EXCLUSIVE CODE "ANDREAH227" AT CHECKOUT AND GET 25% OFF YOUR ORDER!

Helloooo. So here are my reviews for my Ipsy Glam bag items and some other stuff I have talked about before!
So First of all, I painted my nails with the Nailtini red nail polish and it was so shiny and glossy without a top coat! I was lazy and didn't put on a top coat and it lasted a couple of days and still had shine! It was nice. It only started to chip when I went back to work and had to wear gloves (pesky gloves, ruin all my nail polish! downside of being a scientist!)
I also have used the Big Sexy Hair hairspray. I curled my hair with the styling tool last weekend and I spritz it with the hairspray. It didn't make my hair crunchy, it just made sure the curls stayed 100%! it was pretty nice, and I was happy with the hairspray. Other hairsprays I have usually make my hair stiff!
I have also been using the Argan oil from the kit in my hair right after I shower or before bed to make my hair silky and hydrated. So far so good! I like it. But I do have the same Argan oil in a much bigger bottle from one'n'only, probably a lot cheaper than the Josie Maran oil for the same if not more.
I used the Pacifica body butter from the kit as well, as my hands have gotten really dry! It smells so good, I love it!
I have also been using the Sugar chapstick I received as a free gift from Sephora as a birthday gift! It came with two mini chap sticks, one Sugar fresh and one Sugar rose. I love both, and it doesn't have that feeling of a regular chapstick. My lips feel nice and moisturized!
Pictures of all of these items can be seen in previous posts!
Ah also I have been doing a 30 day challenge, where I am trying to work out 5 days a week, with 2 days rest. In addition, I have been trying to eat clean. I am in beach body mode for the summer, as this year I am going to have the look that I have always wanted! So far I have worked out every day with 2 days rest a week for the last 3 weeks!! They say it takes 4 weeks for yourself to notice change, 8 weeks for your friends and family, and 12 weeks for the world. So let's see how it turns out! I took a rest day today because I was just tired and a little sore from the bootcamp style class I went to yesterday. I am so dedicated to working out, it makes me feel better and it's a really nice stress relief. I would say I am obsessed with working out but that word always has a sort of negative connotation.
I cannot wait for this weekend where I can attend a step class with one of my favorite instructors!
I have also ordered some shoes and a scarf from CharlotteRusse.com. They are wedge heels with "no heel." If that sounds confusing, they are very similar to the Jeffrey Campbell "Nightwalk" heels... I will post a pic once I receive them, too lazy right now to head to the site! The scarf I ordered also looked super cute! The site was having free shipping on 25$ that day, and both pieces were on sale! I had to buy!
Anyway, must go to sleep. Going to attempt to go to a cardio kickboxing class at 8am tomorrow. EEK. wish me luck.
goodnight lovelies.

Going gaga!!

OMG best long weekend ever. and by long weekend I mean I still went in to work on Monday, even though here in the US it is considered a holiday. On Saturday I spent it with the boy, going for a swim in the pool and hot tub, and then heading to the beach in Santa Monica (see sunset below!). Sunday I went for a hike near Malibu, check out my cool "quad stretch" pic at the top of the overlook! It was an amazing view, after a 7 mile hike! We went to the Los Leones trail!

Sunday night I took a party bus to a trendy little lounge in Hollywood called the Sayers Club. I tried on so many of my dresses. I was originally going to wear this red with black motel dress, but decided to go with a black dress from Topshop. I realized I wanted to wear my pink spike heels I got from Bakers during winter break, and I didn't have anything else that matched! So I wore the black dress, and curled my hair with the PYT styling tool. I got so many complements on my hair and my shoes! people loved my outfit. I had so much fun Sunday night!!

And lastly, Monday night, after working, I went to see Lady Gaga at the Staples Center in LA! It was amazing!! I didn't really plan an outfit well, I should have gone with something more extreme..but this was enough for getting ready 30 minutes before! I used to be obsessed with Lady Gaga and now I was finally able to see her live! I wore this older color block skirt by Motel! matched with a black tank top! and I added some bright eyeshadow!

How was your weekend?!

New treats! Ipsy

So my new beauty subscription to Ipsy finally arrived!
If you don't know what Ipsy is, or what a beauty subscription is, is you pay 10 dollars every month and you are sent a little make up bag with deluxe or full sized samples of various make up products! I was pretty happy with this first month, as I have use for all of the goodies!
First, I was given a crease makeup brush by Soho, which looks pretty nice. I have been using a regular makeup brush for my eye shadow but I think this one is better! (on a side note, I have also bought an e.l.f. liner brush, which is really good for applying makeup close to your lash line!)
The Big Sexy Hair volumizing hair spray also looks great! Can't wait to try it out this weekend!
They also sent me a "Pacifica" Body butter in Tuscan Blood Orange, and it smells so good! I have been using it to moisturize my dry hands (I work in a lab wearing gloves all day, I constantly wash my hands and it dries them out!)
Also among the samples was a full size Nailtini nail polish in red! I've needed a red polish! Cant wait to do my nails this weekend!
And lastly, they sent me a Josie Maran mini argan oil sample. I have used it on my hair and it seems to work! You can use it as a moisturizer for your split ends, a face moisturizer (apparently, lol), and in a bubble bath. Sounds relaxing. The full size argan oil hair serum is about 30 dollars at Sephora, which is a little steep, but if it works it works right? I have a similar argan oil from "One n only" that should do the same job and it was 8 dollars. But I guess it is all up to preference!
All of these goodies come in a small makeup bag, it was dark blue with stars inside! pretty nice!
All in all, I think this was a great glam bag this month! If you want to check out ispy, head over to www.ipsy.com.
There are several other beauty subscriptions out there, but reading other bloggers' views, I think (so far) that ipsy may be the best one! check out the pics of the items below!

Happy Monday!

Goodmorning all!
It's a very chilly morning here in LA... Brrrr
And I'm from Boston so for me to say its cold says something!
I got an email saying my first Ipsy glam bag should be arriving today! I'm so excited! I will write a review of the items I receive!!
Here is a picture of the cute scarf I'm wearing today. It's reversible, the other side has flowers!
Also, the next pic is a pair of heels that I am just in love with right now!! They are identical to Jeffrey Campbell's night walk... But more affordable. I was just admiring them at this little boutique near UCLA. Ahhh shoes...
Anyway, I'll post more later, just checking in while I have some time on the bus to work!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!!
Hope everyone had a fabulous night!
I ended up going to this bar downtown that I went last year... my friend and I swore we wouldn't go there this year, but lo and behold, that is where we ended up again. But it was fun, the music was good. This is what I wore!
I curled my hair using my straightener that I bought (the PYT styling tool -- seriously best investment ever!) It took me some time because I sectioned it off and did small pieces, but I know that as I get better at using it it will take less and less time!  I think my hair came out fabulous! I love it! I intertwined pieces to get the layered look and it all was in one huge curl, i loved it! ALSO, may I note that I DID NOT USE ANY HAIRSPRAY!!!!!! And my hair stayed like this all night!!! My hair is usually so hard to curl and keep in a curl! I woke up this morning and my hair was still curly too! This styling tool is amazing, I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants an easy way to curl their hair!
As far as my makeup, I used my Dior show Blackout mascara -- my eyelashes looked fake! My mom was convinced I put false lashes on, but they were all mine! I wish I took a picture of my eyelashes!
I also used a goldish eyeshadow from Maybelline and created a smokey eye look with the MAC Smutty Green eyeshadow I blogged about previously! It came out really great! Topped my lids with liquid liner and voila!
I used Bare minerals foundation in matte, added some E.l.f. bronzer on my cheeks, added some Victoria's Secret Kissable lips lip gloss, and my look was complete! I switched to red lipstick during the night, but the look was great! My dress is sequins with black, fitted, from Forever 21! very new years-y! :)
Also, painted my nails with this glitter-gray, and painted 2013 on one nail on each hand!
What do you think about my look?!
The next picture is another dress that I was considering wearing from Forever 21 that I bought in Hawaii, I love it and it's very figure flattering! I will have to wear it to my next night out/event!
The last 2 pictures are from my Saturday night out! I went and got my hair curled from the people who sold me my PYT styling tool, and I loved my hair! I am wearing my pink glitter peplum top from that store Kaitlyn in LA that I previously blogged about. I paired the top with a black cardigan (I bought it in Brighton, UK while I was abroad), just some skinny jeans and my favorite black wedge heels!
So what are everyone's resolutions?
I have a few! First, I want to keep up with this blog and update more frequently! I also want to try to get more readers and followers! I see so many other wonderful blogs and I aspire to be like them!
I also want to get in the best shape by summer! I have been working out for the past year and have been getting so close to my goal, and these next few months, I want to just push through and get to my goal! I will post some pictures when I feel like I am there!
I also want to stop stressing out! that's a big one for me, as I am a stress case. I want to just be happy and take everything as it comes. Some things you can't control and there's no use in stressing out about it! I believe everything happens for a reason and things will work out in the end :)
What are your goals for 2013??
xoxo A
